A geometric abstraction of the most symbolic icon of beach and fun, the beachball, superimposed into the night sky (cosmos/logos). The “Beachball Series” or “Interactions of Color and Beachballs” is partly influenced by Josef Albers, but other influences as well – representing color, form, space geometric order and chaos. It is working with the geometric abstraction of beachballs that brings me wonder and joy both while creating them and when viewing them, and I’m not sure why.These beachballs draw attention in prominent locations of any well lit living space. Each work of vonMartin’s, contemporary beach art and design, is always marked with the trademarked “cross-bones-B” signifying the his creative work in the domain of the multiverse.
